Registration is open to players who live within the boundaries of the Indus Ringette Association. Players that reside within the boundaries of another ringette association may register only with prior approval of both the Registrar and the President of the Indus Ringette Association.
Ringette is a TEAM sport. By registering with Indus Ringette, your child will become part of a team. This means a commitment of the player to fully participate in our program. Players are expected to attend all practices, scheduled power skating, games, and team events (including tournaments, playoffs, and playdowns).
Goalies who are dedicated to playing goal all season at U14, U16, and U19 levels are being rewarded with a special goalie registration rate. More goalies than teams may register. Goalies at U16 and U19 are expected to have their own equipment. Goalie registration at Active Start, U10 and U12 are not available as players in those fundamental and introductory levels are expected to play all positions. In order to receive this discount goalies must be available to play for zone 2 playoffs, playdowns, and provincials. If they are absent during this time they may be subject to full player registration. Indus Ringette Association recognizes that there are unplanned family emergencies and medical injuries/issues that arise throughout the season. Goalies may be excused from the attendance requirement under these circumstances.
Active Start: ages 4-6, a program that is based on fun, introducing basic ringette skills, being part of a team, and getting comfortable on the ice. Practices are once a week for 60 minutes, with cross-ice games throughout the season on weekends.
U10 - Step 1-2-3: ages 6-9, program based on fundamental skills development including skating skills, ringette skills, and basic goalie instruction for all players, emphasis on active involvement, participation, and FUN. Practices are one hour weekly (full shared ice), games are scheduled primarily on weekends and are played in Zone 2 and include travel to surrounding communities like Cochrane, Strathmore, Airdrie, Indus, and Rockyford, and sometimes Medicine Hat and Lethbridge.
U12 to U19 - the program continues to develop and refine ringette skills, players will be evaluated and placed on tiered team pre-season depending on registration numbers. Teams compete in the Zone 1-2- 3. League games are scheduled by a central scheduler and may be played on weekends or weeknights. Travel to communities in and around Calgary, Zone 2 and Medicine Hat, and Lethbridge can be expected. Practices are one hour weekly. Teams may compete for Zone titles and in Provincial competitions.
Practice Schedules will not be available until September. Please be prepared for early morning, weekday practices on a rotating basis.
Registration Numbers - registration will be on a first come first served basis after the returning player registration period and will be capped at a maximum of 15* players per team, with the exception of:
Active Start - Active Start will be capped at 24, but can split into smaller teams for gameplay as is necessary. If a division is full, a waitlist will be established by the registrar.
